The Battle for Season 3 Continues!
posted by Gfinder, 130 days ago
It's still the beginning of 2013, but the League of Legends scene doesn't have any breaks or rest. Sixteen teams will fight for the five open spots of the Championship Series in the North American Offline Qualifier.
Tournament Format
The tournament itself consists of four groups, with four teams in each group and each game being a best of one. The top two teams from each group progress to the winner's bracket. All matches there are best of three, with single elimination. The eight teams form pairs, and the winners of those pairs are qualified for the S3 Series. The four losing teams will then clash on Summoner's Rift for the valuable 5th spot.
Road to a Pro
The teams that qualified for the tournament have fought hard on their way here, so in the end it is going to be an epic series of games.
Curse Gaming and
Team FeaR came from the Season 2 NA Regionals, and
Meat Playground qualified through IPL 5.
Dirt Nap Gaming and
Good Game University earned themselves a spot with IPL Online Qualifier.Furthermore,
Azure Gaming,
Cloud 9 and
The Brunch Club qualified though MLG Online Qualifier. The last eight remaining spots are going to be filled by
1 Trick Ponies,
Complexity Academy,
Epik Gamer,
Falafel Gaming,
Team MRN,
Team TowerDiveTV,
The Salad Bar and
Pulse Esports coming from 5v5 Ranked Games.Seeing the teams, we find several newcomers in the LoL tournament scene while Curse, Fear and Epik Gamer, with a new lineup after forming again, seem to be the most experienced teams.
The fight for the five gold places is going to be really fierce. Who are your favorites? Can you predict the winner?

Really tough to predict this group stage... But I would say,
A: Curse, Pulse
B: Fear, Epik
C: MPG, 1TP
D: Cloud 9, MRN

Nevaaa Evaaaa
Epik is by far the strongest in that team because experience and cheese is the most important thing at this time
like u have to know strategies because playing like CLG doesnt work anymore
and Epik knows how to play aggressiv and defensive plays they can adapt to the playstyle of the enemy or even force them to adapt to theirs

Exactly, Epik is clearly superior to GGU but I still think FeaR will take first.

It doesn`t look like Epik will come through this goupstage. I think the reason for this is that Westrice is playing top and not Wingsofdeath!
